Sports Cam & UV filter

I would like to analyse this little UV filter to begin with reviewing section. This one is one dedicated to Sports cameras, as SJ4000 or similar.

It's a small and low cost UV filter, easy to plug in with a little inside gummy ring. Crystal quality, obviously is not so good in order it is a very cheap spare part. Anyway, it doesn’t affects to camera lens view.

Stronger enough to endure with regular impacts of the quads, may bear also with a couple of hard shocks (Fortunately, I have not tested yet). Then, probably you should change it, but your lens would be protected so far, for sure.
Furthermore, if you are thinking in use it far from drone activity, be sure will be useful. It’s more discreet way to protect your camera lens from dirty particles than waterproof case usually are included in cameras packs, as could happens in locations as beaches.

Functionality

Keeping in mind main functionality is UV rays filtration in your cameras, you should never  take it to this reason. This filter does not really add any filtration to your sport camera due all digital cameras (as far as I know) include by it side UV filter above the sensor. Therefore, double filtration does not affect your video records at all. This kind of UV filter would be useful in analogic cameras, but not in digital ones (strangely because it’s made to this purposely).

On the other hand, I really feel that it would be so helpful to protect your lenses against usual hits several times and maybe in a couple of strong crashes. Furthermore, it was the main reason that I had to get it.

You could see below two photos made with and without filter:

No UV filter

UV filter

Obviously, there is not difference inbetween. Both pictures are being taken with few seconds of delay and in same environmental setup.

Cam settings:

Eken W9 / 12Mpx

I like

Low-cost lens protector (around 5$).

High protection against shocks and specks.

Could be set easely and will remain relatively strong due to gummy ring.

I don’t like

Not high quality made off, but in line with the price.

Zero UV filtration because one is included in the camera itself

This is the highlighted ability but not the main goodness. It should be advertised as a simple protective lens.

In summary

Gadget not trusty to the purpose who made off, but really satisfy the reason that I bought for. In my opinion, it's an essential part of fpv set to anybody who pretend to flight and record with video cameras as SJ4000 or similar.

My recommendation

If you are using SJ4000, SJ5000 or similar, do not hesitate to get it because will be certainly helpful. Of course, as I always recommend, try to buy it in your city or your own country in order to avoid the tipically delivery problems or product malfunctions. It will be more easy to process, quicker and safer than in foreign stores.

On the other hand, if you are looking to a real lens filter, be patient because coming soon I will analyse ND filter, which I think will be very interesting to decrease jelly effect in video, considering his specs.  If you are not so acquainted with this effect, it’s the one which provokes that image constantly tremble like gelatine. It’s a common fpv problem.

To this reason, I highly recommend to expect for the ND review, but if you need additional protection to your cam, you would have a very nice lens protector anyway.

Regards.

RCX ZMR 1804 2400KV Brushless Motors

To my first review it’s fair to beggin with the very first motor that I use in my first DIY drone, RCX ZMR 1804 2400KV. I set it in f250 glass fiber quad. In fist lookup RCX are small and light motors but powerfull anyway. Exactly 13.4g, so perfect to set and don’t be worried about the weight. Furthermore, it’s diameter only 23mm, 5mm in axis. Theoretically, provide 2400KV and may set with 2S (7.4V) or 3S (11.1V) batteries so discard mounting with 4S batteries, are not allowed, looking in datasheets. Package include M2 screws to fix the motors in the frame. Also, one nut per motor to set the propellers. Could be found in CW (Clock Wise) and CCW (Counter Clock Wise) but, to be honest, I have never found CW model. It’s could a problem using nut provided in the package, because tend to unscrew. Also, screws are quite short and should be re-screw almost before every flight. Both issues could be easily solved. Setting few larger M2 screws, cheap and common, let you ...

Adding external DVR to FPV goggles

Being FPV lovers as we are, FDFlyers team know how only a small group of lucky people could have a Fatshark FPV goggles. Keeping in mind cost, you should valuate pros and cons a lot before purchase it.  Therefore, we love to get you cheaper alternatives to fly FPV, improving our basic goggles performance. So, we are going to introduce you how we join VR-007 Eachine goggles to Eachine ProDVR. Note that other alternatives are also valid to do it but we really feel this is one of the better one. VR-007 are used by our side some time ago and it works really acceptable, despite of his price. Obviously “premium” skills are not included (DVR, diversity…), and this is the main reason to set some improvements. This way these basic goggles would be stepping up to next level. What DVR is? DVR means, literally, Digital Video Recorder. It’s a very simple box capable to record digital videos. To our interest, very useful video recorder, directly from FPV camera. There are two ma...

Racerstar BR2205. Maybe the best low-cost racing motors

Looking back, in previous post, we were discussing about another low-cost brushless motor with great cost-benefit, RCX1804. Following with this premise, we are going to annalize perhaps the next step to our quads. Obviously, RCX are great motors to begin with, but you will like to improve the time you get more experience flying. So, it's natural to look for powerful motors to get faster flights. Racerstar BR2205 2300kv Taking this into account, we are going to introduce you the BR2205.  Once they have been tested, we can conclude are awesome motors to going faster. Those racing motors allow to save a considerable amount money without renounce to have a good performance.  Same brand offer two diverse power options: 2300kv and 2600kv. First one are the most extended and my recommendation, being so much easier to find. In terms of prices you could find it around 38/40€ in Europe and 28/30€ in China. Each motor is delivered in it's own red ...
