New challenges. Mini brushed quad. Coming soon.

Hello everyone.

Free Drone Flyers Team just wants to post a short article to give you some approaches about the new challenges that are to come on the blog.

We have minds on some new projects for the new year, even these two are currently starting.

The first two, would be two quads mountings, based on spare parts, but both so different between them.

First one will be a tiny FPV quad. It will be very useful in currently days, according the cold temperatures we are experiencing, which make us complicated to fly outside.

Even more, it’s another way to practice to fly with FPV in a bounded environment, preventing injuries and big crashes.

Will be based on Lantian 105 frame.

To build it we would use new parts purchased on purpose to do it, but also with some spare parts previously got as spare parts of another previous quads, especially beginner ones used in first flights.

Therefore, we would try to mount a tiny quad as cheap as possible, but also keeping a good performance.

Our second step, will be second drone assemblage. Will suppose a great change to one of the most flighted quads on our tests. Will swap the famed ZMR250 fiberglass to new f210 carbon fibber, coming from DARC guys. It’s based on a lower unibody frame and looks really nice.

Will perform a deep analysis of it next days, keeping in mind the very next project will be Lantian 105.
Would like to share first impressions and first feelings as soon as possible.

See you soon.
Cheers.

FDFlyers.

RCX ZMR 1804 2400KV Brushless Motors

To my first review it’s fair to beggin with the very first motor that I use in my first DIY drone, RCX ZMR 1804 2400KV. I set it in f250 glass fiber quad. In fist lookup RCX are small and light motors but powerfull anyway. Exactly 13.4g, so perfect to set and don’t be worried about the weight. Furthermore, it’s diameter only 23mm, 5mm in axis. Theoretically, provide 2400KV and may set with 2S (7.4V) or 3S (11.1V) batteries so discard mounting with 4S batteries, are not allowed, looking in datasheets. Package include M2 screws to fix the motors in the frame. Also, one nut per motor to set the propellers. Could be found in CW (Clock Wise) and CCW (Counter Clock Wise) but, to be honest, I have never found CW model. It’s could a problem using nut provided in the package, because tend to unscrew. Also, screws are quite short and should be re-screw almost before every flight. Both issues could be easily solved. Setting few larger M2 screws, cheap and common, let you ...

Changing LIPO battery connectors

First question came to our minds is, really it is neccesary to change my battery connectors? Is it usefulll? Have any sense? Easy to do?  This question, like most in the RC hobby, could be answered the same. It depends . We would like to introduce you some posible situations to understand why could be interesting to make the change. Maybe you have began in RC some time ago with planes and now you are interested to fly with quads, but plane batteries are mount  different connectors. Could give second chance to your old batteries just swapping connectors. Perhaps you have bougth some new batteries, announced in a big photo with a XT-60 connectors. When these batteries arrived home you noticed that connectors are T-connectors and it was indicated in the webside, just below of the photo. You obviously need to change these connectors. And the final situation. You are navigating in internet and, checking your most visited webs, you have found a really crazy offer of batter...

Racerstar BR2205. Maybe the best low-cost racing motors

Looking back, in previous post, we were discussing about another low-cost brushless motor with great cost-benefit, RCX1804. Following with this premise, we are going to annalize perhaps the next step to our quads. Obviously, RCX are great motors to begin with, but you will like to improve the time you get more experience flying. So, it's natural to look for powerful motors to get faster flights. Racerstar BR2205 2300kv Taking this into account, we are going to introduce you the BR2205.  Once they have been tested, we can conclude are awesome motors to going faster. Those racing motors allow to save a considerable amount money without renounce to have a good performance.  Same brand offer two diverse power options: 2300kv and 2600kv. First one are the most extended and my recommendation, being so much easier to find. In terms of prices you could find it around 38/40€ in Europe and 28/30€ in China. Each motor is delivered in it's own red ...
